jaunesnysis mokyklinis amžius statusas T sritis švietimas apibrėžtis Amžius, beveik sutampantis su antrąja vaikyste. Tai 6(7)–10(11) gyvenimo metai. Šį amžių pradėta skirti, kai įvairiose šalyse buvo įvestas visuotinis pradinis mokymas remiantis tuo, kada vaikai pradeda lankyti mokyklą ir kiek metų trunka pradinis mokymas. 6–7 m. vaikai fiziškai subręsta taip, kad gali 30–45 minutes išsėdėti mokykliniame suole ir atlikti mokymo užduotis raštu. Nuo žaidimų pereinama prie mokymosi, iš vaikų reikalaujama tikslingos, valingos veiklos, sugebėjimo spręsti įvairius uždavinius, savarankiškai reguliuoti savo darbą ir poilsį. Įsisavinant mokslo pagrindų žinias, atliekant įvairias kalbos, matematikos pratybas, vaiko vaizdinis mąstymas darosi abstraktus, gebantis atskleisti priežastinius reiškinių ryšius. Stiprėja vaikų atmintis, valingas dėmesys. Ikimokykliniame amžiuje vyravusios kintančios emocijos darosi pastovesnės: vaikas vis labiau geba valdyti savo elgesį. Mokydamasis ir bendraudamas su vienmečiais, mokytoju, jis įgyja bendravimo patirties, tampa aktyviu grupės nariu. Taip bręsta asmenybė. Buvę platūs visos mokyklinės ir pažintinės veiklos interesai pamažu sutelkiami į tam tikrus tikrovės aspektus.
